The House Number mat is a house number doormat built around one big, bold number at the center, with an optional street name beneath it. It helps guests and delivery drivers confirm they have the right door at a glance. It is made to order on a synthetic coir mat that has the look of natural coir without the shedding, and you see your number in the preview before you buy.
Most door mats greet people. This one also tells them where they are. A large number at the threshold answers the question every visitor, driver and first-time guest is asking as they walk up: is this the right house?
It suits homes on streets where the houses look alike, homes with small or hard-to-see wall numbers, duplexes and townhomes with shared walkways, and anyone who simply likes a clean, modern address mat at the front door.
A wide bar and a narrow bar run down each end of the mat, framing the center. Your house number sits in the middle in very large, heavy sans-serif numerals. If you add a street name, it appears below the number in spaced capitals.
You fill in two boxes. The house number holds up to 5 characters, such as 1428 or 12B, and is required. The street name holds up to 18 characters and is optional. A long street name shrinks to fit its line, so shorten it if needed: MAPLE AVE fits more comfortably than MAPLEWOOD AVENUE.
The four colorways are a black mat with natural-colored numbers and bars, a natural mat with black, a black mat with grey, and a grey mat with black. The bars, number and street name always share one color.
A doormat with your house number works best right at the front door, on a porch, a stoop or a covered entry where visitors arrive. The number is large enough to read as people come up the walk, and the mat is rated for indoor or outdoor use.
It adds to your address, but it does not replace the numbers mounted on your house or mailbox, which people look for from the street. Keep those in place. House Number is part of our personalized coir door mats collection, all made to order.
First, check the number and street name. A single wrong digit sends a visitor to the wrong door, so read it twice in the preview. Check the street spelling and any abbreviation, like ST or DR, and remember the mat is made to order exactly as typed.
Second, size the mat for distance. A 2' x 3' works at a single door that guests reach up close. If people see the mat from farther down a walkway or driveway, a 3' x 4', 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' makes the number larger and easier to read.
Third, choose the colorway for contrast, because readability is the point. Natural numbers on a black mat stand out on light concrete and wood. Black numbers on a natural mat stand out against dark doors and brick. The grey options are subtler and better suited to entries close to the door.
For an address mat, a number that is easy to read matters more than anything else. Our preview shows your exact number and street at the size and colorway you pick, so you can judge how bold it looks before you buy, and the same design follows you into the cart and checkout. We have been in the matting business since 1964, shipping is free, and House Number typically ships in about 10 days.

Yes, as long as it fits in 5 characters. Numbers with a unit letter, like 12B or 405A, work well. For an apartment or condo, you can put the unit number in the number box, such as 3C.
If you need both a building number and a unit, put the main number in the number box and use the street name line for the rest, such as UNIT 4. The preview shows how it reads.

No. The street name is optional. Without it, the number stands alone on the mat for a bold, minimal look.
Adding the street helps on corner lots, at homes facing a side street, or anywhere two streets meet. It holds up to 18 characters, so abbreviations like ST, AVE and DR help longer names fit.

Pick the colorway with the strongest contrast against the ground around your door. On light concrete, pavers or a light wood porch, a black mat with natural numbers stands out most.
On dark stained wood, brick or slate, a natural mat with black numbers is easier to read. The grey colorways look softer and work best where visitors are already close to the door.

The bigger the mat, the bigger the number. A 2' x 3' suits a door that visitors reach up close. If people first see the mat from partway down a walkway, step up to a 3' x 4' or 3' x 5'.
For a long walk, a wide porch or double doors, the 4' x 6' gives the number the most presence. Shorter numbers also show larger on the same mat, so a 3-digit number reads bigger than a 5-character one.

The fibers are solution-dyed and UV-stabilized, which means the color runs through the fiber rather than sitting on the surface. They are rated 6 for colorfastness to light, so the number holds its contrast on a sunny porch.
Dirt is a bigger threat to readability than sun. Vacuum the mat regularly with a brush and beater bar, which can remove up to 80% of surface dirt, to keep the number crisp.

The mat has a non-skid primary backing and an anti-skid secondary backing to help it grip the surface underneath. The fibers dry quickly compared to natural coco mats, so it does not stay soaked after a storm.
On an uncovered stoop, lift the mat after heavy rain and let the surface underneath dry before setting it back. The 1-year limited (Mats Inc.) warranty covers mats cared for this way.
