The Heritage family name doormat puts your last name front and center, with "THE" above it and an optional established year below. It is a classic door mat with your last name on it, made to order on a synthetic coir mat that has the look of natural coir without the shedding. You type your name, watch the preview update, and see exactly what will sit at your door.
What Heritage Says at Your Door
Heritage reads like a sign on an old family home: THE SMITHS, EST. 2019. It tells guests they found the right house, and it marks something that matters to you, whether that is the year you married, the year you bought the house, or the year the family started.
It is the design we would point to for new homeowners and anyone giving a housewarming gift. It also makes a strong wedding gift doormat: a just married door mat with the couple's new surname and their wedding year. The established year turns a door mat into a small piece of family history that greets everyone who comes to the door.
How the Design Works
The mat has a thick outer border with a thin inner border just inside it. "THE" sits above your name in small capital letters. Your family name fills the middle in large, heavy serif letters. If you add a year, it appears below the name between two short lines, reading EST. and your year.
You fill in two boxes. The family name holds up to 12 characters and is required. The established year holds up to 4 characters and is optional, and the EST. line only shows when you enter one. Longer names shrink to fit the space, so a 5-letter name sits larger than a 12-letter name. If your name is long, try a shorter form in the preview and compare.
There are four colorways: a black mat with natural-colored lettering, a natural mat with black lettering, a black mat with grey lettering, and a grey mat with black lettering. The borders and lettering always share one color, so the design reads as a single clean frame.
Where It Fits (and Where It Doesn't)
Heritage belongs at a main front door, a covered porch or a stoop where guests stop and look down. As a front door mat with your last name, it works on its own or as a gift for someone moving into a new home. The fiber is UV-stabilized, so it handles a sunny porch, and it works indoors just as well inside a front entry.
It reads best up close, where guests can take in the name and the year, so it is not meant as a sign to be read from the street. Heritage is part of our personalized coir door mats collection, every one made to order with your name.
Three Things to Check Before You Order
First, check the spelling and the year. Heritage is made to order, so a misspelled name or the wrong year is on the mat for good. Read your name letter by letter in the preview, and if it is a gift, confirm the spelling and the year with someone close to the family before you buy.
Second, check the size against the door. Heritage comes in 2' x 3', 3' x 4', 3' x 5' and 4' x 6'. A short name with no year looks balanced at 2' x 3'. A longer name plus an established year has more room to breathe at 3' x 5' or 4' x 6', especially in front of double doors.
Third, pick the colorway that stands out against your door and porch. Natural lettering on black gives the most traditional look and pops on light concrete or wood. A natural mat with black lettering stands out against dark doors and brick.

Frequently Asked Questions
What year should I put on an established door mat?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Most families use the year they married or the year they moved into the home. Some use the year a family business started, or the year a home was built. There is no wrong answer, as long as the year means something to the people who live there.
If you are not sure, leave it blank. The EST. line only appears when you enter a year, and the mat looks complete with just the name.
Will a long last name fit on the Heritage mat?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Heritage holds up to 12 characters in the family name. Names near that limit shrink to fit the space, so they sit smaller than a short name would.
For a long name, a 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' mat keeps the letters large. You can also try a shorter form, such as dropping a hyphenated half, and compare the two in the preview before you decide.
Is Heritage a good wedding doormat or housewarming gift?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
It is a natural fit for both. As a newlywed doormat, it can carry the couple's new family name and their wedding year. A housewarming gift can carry the year they moved in.
Because the mat is made to order and can't be returned, double-check the spelling of the name and the year before you buy. If the couple is changing names, confirm which name they want on the mat.
Which colorway works best with my front door?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Think about contrast. A black mat with natural lettering stands out on light porches, painted concrete and pale wood. A natural mat with black lettering stands out against dark doors, brick and stone.
The grey options are quieter. Black with grey lettering suits modern homes with dark trim, and grey with black lettering works well against grey siding or slate.
Will the Heritage mat hold up on an uncovered porch?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
Yes. The fibers are solution-dyed and UV-stabilized, rated 6 for colorfastness to light, so the name and borders keep their color in sun. The mat dries quickly compared to natural coco, and the non-skid backing helps it stay in place.
To keep it looking sharp, vacuum it regularly with a brush and beater bar, and let it dry out after heavy rain before setting it back down.
How thick is the mat, and will my door open over it?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The mat is about 5/8 inch tall in total, with a pile height of 0.422 inch. Whether a door clears it depends on the gap under that door.
If your door swings out over the mat, measure the gap between the bottom of the door and the porch. If it is under 5/8 inch, place the mat just outside the door's swing.

The Script Name mat is a last name doormat that keeps it simple: your name in a large, flowing script, framed by a wide border. It is made to order on a synthetic coir mat that has the look of natural coir without the shedding, and you see your name in the preview before you buy.
What Script Name Says at Your Door
Some front doors don't need a slogan. Script Name puts your surname in formal script, the kind you would see on a wedding invitation or engraved stationery, and lets it carry the whole mat. It says who lives here, and it says it quietly.
It suits homes with a clean, modern or traditional look where a busy design would feel out of place. It is also a natural pick for anyone who wants a door mat with their last name that feels elegant and personal.
How the Design Works
A wide band of the accent color runs around the outer edge of the mat. Inside it, the field is plain. Your name sits in the center in a large formal script, the only text on the mat. That open space around the name is what gives the design its calm look.
You fill in one box: your family name, up to 12 characters. The script shrinks to fit the space, so a short name like "Cole" fills the mat while a 12-letter name sits smaller. Script reads best when it is large, so if your name is long, try a shorter form in the preview and compare the two.
The four colorways are a black mat with natural-colored lettering and border, a natural mat with black lettering and border, a black mat with grey, and a grey mat with black. The border and the name always share one color.
Where It Fits (and Where It Doesn't)
Script Name works best at a front door where people walk right up to the mat: a porch, a stoop, an apartment or condo door, or a covered entry. Up close, the flowing letters read clearly and look their best.
It is not the right mat if you need people to read it from the street, or if your name is long and you want a small mat. Fine script needs room to stay clear. Script Name is part of our personalized coir door mats, all made to order with your name.
Three Things to Check Before You Order
First, check the spelling and the length. Count the letters, because the box holds 12 characters. Then read the name in the preview one letter at a time. Script letters can make a typo harder to spot, and the mat is made to order, so what you approve is what we make.
Second, match the size to the name and the door. A short surname looks great on a 2' x 3' at a single door. A name of eight letters or more, or a wide double door, reads better on a 3' x 5' or 4' x 6', where the script has room to stay large.
Third, pick a colorway with strong contrast. Script has fine, flowing strokes, so contrast does a lot of the work. Natural lettering on black and black lettering on natural are the easiest to read. The grey options are softer and suit modern homes with grey or dark trim.
Why Mats Inc.
With a script design, small details change how the name looks, so seeing it first matters. Our preview draws your exact name in the script as you type, at the size and colorway you pick, and the same design follows you into the cart and checkout. We have been in the matting business since 1964, shipping is free, and Script Name typically ships in about 10 days.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size Script Name mat should I get?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Start with the width of your door. For a single front door, a 2' x 3' or 3' x 4' sits in proportion. For double doors or a wide stoop, a 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' keeps the mat from looking lost.
Then think about your name. Script reads best when it is large, so if your surname runs past seven or eight letters, size up one step. The preview shows your exact name on each size.
How does a long last name look in script?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Names up to 12 characters fit, and the script shrinks to fill the space. A long name in script gets smaller and the strokes get thinner, so it reads best up close.
For a long surname, choose a 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' so the letters stay large. You can also type a shorter version in the preview, such as one half of a hyphenated name, and compare.
Which colorway makes a script name easiest to read?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
The strongest contrast reads best. Natural lettering on a black mat and black lettering on a natural mat are the clearest choices for script.
The grey colorways look softer and work well with modern homes, but the lower contrast makes fine script a little quieter. Try each colorway in the preview with your name before you decide.
Can I order Script Name as a gift?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Yes. Its simple look makes it an easy gift for a new home or a couple sharing a new surname. Shipping is free and it typically ships in about 10 days.
Because the mat carries a name, it can't be returned or exchanged. Confirm the exact spelling of the surname before you order, especially for a couple who has recently changed names.
How do I keep a coir door mat clean?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
Vacuum it regularly with a motor-driven brush and beater bar. That can remove up to 80% of surface dirt, and dirt left in the fibers is what dulls the colors over time. At a busy front door, vacuum or shake it out a few times a week.
Keeping it clean also protects your warranty. The 1-year limited (Mats Inc.) warranty covers mats that are maintained this way.
Will it stay in place on a wet porch?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The mat has a non-skid primary backing and an anti-skid secondary backing, which help it grip the surface underneath. The fibers also dry quickly compared to natural coco mats, so it doesn't stay soaked after rain.
After a heavy storm, lift the mat and let the porch and the backing dry before setting it back down. That keeps water from sitting underneath.

The Monogram Crest is a monogrammed door mat with your family initial set inside a double ring, like a crest, and your full last name spelled out below in spaced capitals. It is made to order on a synthetic coir mat that has the look of natural coir without the shedding, and the preview draws your monogram as you type.
What Monogram Crest Says at Your Door
A monogram has been the mark of a family home for generations, on silver, linens and stationery. Monogram Crest brings that same tradition to the front door. The ringed initial gives the mat a formal, finished look, and the name below makes sure guests know exactly whose home they have reached.
It suits brick and stone homes, formal entries, historic houses and anyone who loves a classic look. As a monogram welcome door mat, it greets everyone who comes up the walk with the family's own mark.
How the Design Works
A rounded border frames the mat. In the center, two rings form the crest, and your initial sits inside them in a heavy serif letter. Your family name runs below the crest in spaced small capitals, which gives it an engraved feel.
You fill in one box: your family name, up to 12 characters. The initial is taken automatically from the first letter, so you never type it twice. Longer names shrink to fit the line below the crest, while the initial stays the same size. If your name is near the limit, try it in the preview and see how it sits.
The four colorways are a black mat with a natural-colored crest and name, a natural mat with black, a black mat with grey, and a grey mat with black. The border, rings, initial and name always share one color.
Where It Fits (and Where It Doesn't)
Monogram Crest belongs at a main front door, a covered porch or a grand entry where guests stop at the threshold. It works as a monogram front door mat on its own, or as a finishing touch for a home that already uses the family monogram elsewhere.
The crest reads from a few steps away, but the spaced name is best read up close, so it is not meant as a sign for the street. Monogram Crest is part of our personalized coir door mats collection, all made to order with your name.
Three Things to Check Before You Order
First, check the name and the first letter. The initial comes from the first character you type, so type the name exactly the way you want the monogram to read. Then check the full spelling letter by letter. The mat is made to order, so the preview is your proof.
Second, size the mat to the door. A 2' x 3' or 3' x 4' sits well at a single front door. For double doors, a wide porch or a large monogram doormat that makes a statement, choose a 3' x 5' or 4' x 6', where the crest has room to stand out.
Third, pick the colorway. The double ring is the focal point, so contrast matters. A black mat with a natural crest looks the most traditional. A natural mat with a black crest stands out against dark doors and brick, and the grey options give a quieter, modern finish.
Why Mats Inc.
A monogram only looks right when the letter and the name sit just so. Our preview builds the crest from your name as you type, at the exact size and colorway you choose, and that design follows you into the cart and checkout. Frequently Asked Questions
How is the monogram letter chosen?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
The initial inside the crest is taken from the first letter of the family name you type. Type "Bennett" and the crest shows a B, with BENNETT spelled out below.
That keeps the monogram and the name matched every time. If your family uses a different letter for its monogram, type the name the way you want it to read and check the result in the preview.
What size monogrammed mat works for a front door?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
For a standard single front door, a 2' x 3' or 3' x 4' looks balanced. For double doors, a wide porch or a grand entry, a 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' gives the crest more presence.
A good rule is to choose a mat close to the width of the door opening. A mat that is much narrower than the door can make even a strong monogram look small.
Which colorway makes the crest stand out most?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
The double ring and initial pop most with strong contrast. A black mat with a natural crest is the classic choice and shows well on light porches and stone. A natural mat with a black crest stands out against dark doors and red brick.
The grey colorways are subtler. They suit modern homes with grey siding or dark trim, where a softer monogram feels right.
Is a monogrammed door mat a good gift?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Yes. A monogram is a traditional wedding, housewarming and holiday gift, and a door mat puts it where the whole family sees it every day. Shipping is free, and it typically ships in about 10 days, so order early for the holidays.
Because it is personalized, it can't be returned or exchanged. Confirm the exact spelling of the family name before you order.
Can a monogram outdoor mat stay out all year?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
It is built for outdoor use. The fibers are solution-dyed and UV-stabilized, rated 6 for colorfastness to light, so the crest and name hold their color in sun. The mat also dries quickly compared to natural coco mats.
On an open porch, lift the mat after heavy rain and let it dry before setting it back down. That keeps water from sitting under it and helps it last.
How do I keep the monogram looking crisp?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
Dirt packed into the fibers is what dulls a design over time. Vacuum the mat regularly with a motor-driven brush and beater bar, which can remove up to 80% of surface dirt.
At a busy front door, a quick vacuum or shake-out a few times a week keeps the crest sharp. Mats maintained this way are covered by our 1-year limited (Mats Inc.) warranty.

We have been in the matting business since 1964, shipping is free, and Monogram Crest typically ships in about 10 days.

The Script Welcome mat is a personalized welcome mat with a large, flowing "Welcome" across the middle and your own line of text beneath it. Write The Smith Family, Grandma & Grandpa, or anything you like up to 22 characters. It is made to order on a synthetic coir mat that has the look of natural coir without the shedding, and you see your words in the preview before you buy.
What Script Welcome Says at Your Door
"Welcome" is the warmest word you can put at a door, and Script Welcome makes it the star. The big script letters feel friendly and relaxed, and your second line turns a simple greeting into one that is clearly yours.
It is a natural fit for busy family homes, first apartments and anyone who wants a custom welcome mat that feels inviting rather than formal. Because the second line is open, it also works for grandparents, a classroom door or a weekend camper.
How the Design Works
Solid bands run across the top and bottom of the mat. Between them, "Welcome" sits large in a flowing script. Your text goes on a line below it, set in spaced capitals between two short rules, which gives it a clean, finished look.
"Welcome" is always part of the design, and you fill in one box: the second line, up to 22 characters, spaces included. A short line like THE LEES sits large, while a full 22 characters shrinks to fit the space. If your line runs long, try a shorter version in the preview, such as THE SMITHS instead of THE SMITH FAMILY.
The four colorways are a black mat with natural-colored lettering and bands, a natural mat with black, a black mat with grey, and a grey mat with black. The bands, the script and your line always share one color.
Where It Fits (and Where It Doesn't)
Script Welcome works at a front door, a back porch, an apartment door or the step of a camper or RV. The mat is rated for indoor or outdoor use, so it can also sit just inside a front entry, where it greets guests as they step in.
The script "Welcome" reads from a distance, but your second line is smaller and best read up close, so it is not meant to be read from the street. Script Welcome is part of our personalized coir door mats collection, all made to order with your words.
Three Things to Check Before You Order
First, check your second line. Count the characters, including spaces and punctuation, because the box holds 22. Then read it in the preview letter by letter. An apostrophe in the wrong place, like "The Smith's," is easy to miss, and the mat is made to order exactly as typed.
Second, size the mat to the door. A 2' x 3' suits a single door, an apartment or a camper step. A 3' x 4' gives a single front door more presence, and a 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' fits double doors or a wide porch, where a longer second line has room to stay large.
Third, choose the colorway. Natural lettering on a black mat is warm and classic and shows well on light porches. Black lettering on a natural mat stands out against dark doors and brick. The grey options suit modern homes with grey siding or trim.
Why Mats Inc.
With a welcome mat, your words are the whole point, so you should see them before you buy. Our preview places your second line under the script "Welcome" as you type, at the size and colorway you pick, and the same design follows you into the cart and checkout. We have been in the matting business since 1964, shipping is free, and Script Welcome typically ships in about 10 days.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can I write on a personalized welcome mat?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Anything that fits in 22 characters, spaces included. Most people use a family name, like The Smith Family or The Garcias. Others write Grandma & Grandpa, a classroom name like Mrs. Lopez's Class, or a place name like Our Happy Camper.
"Welcome" is always shown above your line in script, so you don't need to type it. Check your wording in the preview before you order.
How do I make a longer line fit?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Your line shrinks to fit the space, so a full 22 characters will sit smaller than a short line. To keep the letters large, trim extra words: THE JOHNSONS reads bigger than THE JOHNSON FAMILY.
You can also size up. A 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' gives a longer line more room, and the preview shows exactly how it looks on each size.
Is Script Welcome a good gift for grandparents?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Yes. Grandma & Grandpa, Nana & Pop or Grandma's House all fit on the second line, and it makes a warm gift for birthdays, Grandparents Day or the holidays. It is also a popular housewarming and teacher gift.
Because it is personalized, it can't be returned or exchanged. Double-check the names and spelling with the family before you order. Shipping is free, and it typically ships in about 10 days.
Which colorway works best for a welcome mat?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Choose the one that contrasts with the ground around your door. On a light porch, concrete or wood deck, a black mat with natural lettering stands out. In front of a dark door or brick, a natural mat with black lettering is easier to read.
The grey colorways are softer and pair well with modern homes and grey siding.
Can I use it on a camper or RV step?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
Yes. The 2' x 3' size is the usual pick for a camper or RV step. The mat is built for outdoor use, with UV-stabilized fibers that hold their color in sun and a non-skid primary backing with an anti-skid secondary backing to help it stay put.
It also dries quickly compared to natural coco mats, which helps at a campsite. After a rainy trip, let it dry before you pack it away.
Can I put it inside the front door instead of outside?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
Yes. It is rated for indoor or outdoor use, and the non-skid backing helps it grip a hard entry floor. Inside, it catches dirt from shoes before it spreads through the house.
The mat is about 5/8 inch tall, so if your door swings inward over it, check the gap under the door first. Vacuum it regularly with a brush and beater bar to keep the lettering clean.

The House Number mat is a house number doormat built around one big, bold number at the center, with an optional street name beneath it. It helps guests and delivery drivers confirm they have the right door at a glance. It is made to order on a synthetic coir mat that has the look of natural coir without the shedding, and you see your number in the preview before you buy.
What House Number Says at Your Door
Most door mats greet people. This one also tells them where they are. A large number at the threshold answers the question every visitor, driver and first-time guest is asking as they walk up: is this the right house?
It suits homes on streets where the houses look alike, homes with small or hard-to-see wall numbers, duplexes and townhomes with shared walkways, and anyone who simply likes a clean, modern address mat at the front door.
How the Design Works
A wide bar and a narrow bar run down each end of the mat, framing the center. Your house number sits in the middle in very large, heavy sans-serif numerals. If you add a street name, it appears below the number in spaced capitals.
You fill in two boxes. The house number holds up to 5 characters, such as 1428 or 12B, and is required. The street name holds up to 18 characters and is optional. A long street name shrinks to fit its line, so shorten it if needed: MAPLE AVE fits more comfortably than MAPLEWOOD AVENUE.
The four colorways are a black mat with natural-colored numbers and bars, a natural mat with black, a black mat with grey, and a grey mat with black. The bars, number and street name always share one color.
Where It Fits (and Where It Doesn't)
A doormat with your house number works best right at the front door, on a porch, a stoop or a covered entry where visitors arrive. The number is large enough to read as people come up the walk, and the mat is rated for indoor or outdoor use.
It adds to your address, but it does not replace the numbers mounted on your house or mailbox, which people look for from the street. Keep those in place. House Number is part of our personalized coir door mats collection, all made to order.
Three Things to Check Before You Order
First, check the number and street name. A single wrong digit sends a visitor to the wrong door, so read it twice in the preview. Check the street spelling and any abbreviation, like ST or DR, and remember the mat is made to order exactly as typed.
Second, size the mat for distance. A 2' x 3' works at a single door that guests reach up close. If people see the mat from farther down a walkway or driveway, a 3' x 4', 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' makes the number larger and easier to read.
Third, choose the colorway for contrast, because readability is the point. Natural numbers on a black mat stand out on light concrete and wood. Black numbers on a natural mat stand out against dark doors and brick. The grey options are subtler and better suited to entries close to the door.
Why Mats Inc.
For an address mat, a number that is easy to read matters more than anything else. Our preview shows your exact number and street at the size and colorway you pick, so you can judge how bold it looks before you buy, and the same design follows you into the cart and checkout. We have been in the matting business since 1964, shipping is free, and House Number typically ships in about 10 days.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I include a unit letter or apartment number?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Yes, as long as it fits in 5 characters. Numbers with a unit letter, like 12B or 405A, work well. For an apartment or condo, you can put the unit number in the number box, such as 3C.
If you need both a building number and a unit, put the main number in the number box and use the street name line for the rest, such as UNIT 4. The preview shows how it reads.
Do I have to add a street name?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
No. The street name is optional. Without it, the number stands alone on the mat for a bold, minimal look.
Adding the street helps on corner lots, at homes facing a side street, or anywhere two streets meet. It holds up to 18 characters, so abbreviations like ST, AVE and DR help longer names fit.
Which colorway makes a house number easiest to read?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Pick the colorway with the strongest contrast against the ground around your door. On light concrete, pavers or a light wood porch, a black mat with natural numbers stands out most.
On dark stained wood, brick or slate, a natural mat with black numbers is easier to read. The grey colorways look softer and work best where visitors are already close to the door.
What size house number doormat reads best from a distance?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The bigger the mat, the bigger the number. A 2' x 3' suits a door that visitors reach up close. If people first see the mat from partway down a walkway, step up to a 3' x 4' or 3' x 5'.
For a long walk, a wide porch or double doors, the 4' x 6' gives the number the most presence. Shorter numbers also show larger on the same mat, so a 3-digit number reads bigger than a 5-character one.
Will the number fade in direct sun?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The fibers are solution-dyed and UV-stabilized, which means the color runs through the fiber rather than sitting on the surface. They are rated 6 for colorfastness to light, so the number holds its contrast on a sunny porch.
Dirt is a bigger threat to readability than sun. Vacuum the mat regularly with a brush and beater bar, which can remove up to 80% of surface dirt, to keep the number crisp.
Will the mat stay put and dry out after rain?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The mat has a non-skid primary backing and an anti-skid secondary backing to help it grip the surface underneath. The fibers dry quickly compared to natural coco mats, so it does not stay soaked after a storm.
On an uncovered stoop, lift the mat after heavy rain and let the surface underneath dry before setting it back. The 1-year limited (Mats Inc.) warranty covers mats cared for this way.

The Coastal Anchor is a coastal door mat with a ship's anchor on one side and your name on the other: "THE" above your name, plus an optional second line like LAKE HOUSE. It brings an easy nautical look to the front door of a beach house, lake cabin or any home near the water. It is made to order on a synthetic coir mat that has the look of natural coir without the shedding, and you see your words in the preview before you buy.
What Coastal Anchor Says at Your Door
An anchor means home port, the place you come back to. Coastal Anchor puts that symbol next to your family name, so the mat says both who lives here and what kind of place it is. It feels relaxed and welcoming, the way a weekend place should.
It is a natural fit for beach houses, lake houses, river cabins, boathouses and homes in coastal towns. It also works anywhere a nautical doormat fits the style, from a navy front door to a porch full of rope and driftwood decor.
How the Design Works
A rounded border frames the mat. On the left sits a bold anchor, with a short divider line beside it. On the right, "THE" appears in small capitals, your name sits large below it, and an optional second line runs underneath, all set left-aligned for a clean, nautical-sign look.
You fill in two boxes. The name holds up to 10 characters and is required, and "THE" is added for you. The second line holds up to 14 characters and is optional, like LAKE HOUSE or EST. 2021. Longer text shrinks to fit, so a short name like THE COLES sits larger than a 10-letter name.
The four colorways are a black mat with a natural-colored anchor and lettering, a natural mat with black, a black mat with grey, and a grey mat with black. The border, anchor and lettering always share one color.
Where It Fits (and Where It Doesn't)
As a coastal door mat, Coastal Anchor works at the main door of a beach or lake house, a screened porch, a deck entrance or a boathouse door. The mat is rated for indoor or outdoor use, so it also works just inside the door, where it catches sand and grit from bare feet and flip-flops.
It is a door mat, not a boat deck mat, so keep it at the house, dock house or cabin rather than on board. Coastal Anchor is part of our personalized coir door mats collection, all made to order with your name.
Three Things to Check Before You Order
First, check the name and second line. The name box holds 10 characters and the second line holds 14, spaces included. Read both in the preview letter by letter, and remember "THE" is already part of the design, so don't type it again.
Second, size the mat to the door. A 2' x 3' fits a cabin door, a back door off the deck or a single front door. A 3' x 4' gives a main entry more presence, and a 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' suits double doors, French doors onto a deck or a wide screened porch.
Third, choose the colorway. A natural mat with black lettering has a sandy, sun-bleached feel that suits beach houses. A black mat with natural lettering looks crisp against white siding and light decks. The grey options lean modern coastal and pair well with weathered wood and grey shingles.
Why Mats Inc.
A beach or lake house name is personal, and the second line is where it shows. Our preview places your name and second line beside the anchor as you type, at the size and colorway you pick, and the same design follows you into the cart and checkout. We have been in the matting business since 1964, shipping is free, and Coastal Anchor typically ships in about 10 days.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I put on the second line?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Anything up to 14 characters. LAKE HOUSE, BEACH HOUSE and RIVER CABIN are natural choices. Some families use the year they bought the place, like EST. 2021, or the name of the lake or beach itself.
You can also leave it blank. The anchor and THE plus your name look complete on their own.
Can I use a nickname or house name instead of a last name?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Yes. The name box takes any word up to 10 characters, and "THE" always sits above it. Many lake and beach places have a name of their own, and THE DOCKSIDE or THE HIDEAWAY works just as well as a family name.
Check how it reads with "THE" in front of it in the preview before you order.
Is Coastal Anchor a good gift for new lake or beach house owners?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Yes. A nautical welcome mat with the family name and LAKE HOUSE or BEACH HOUSE is a thoughtful closing or housewarming gift for a second home. Shipping is free, and it typically ships in about 10 days.
Because it is personalized, it can't be returned or exchanged. Confirm the spelling of the name, and the name of the place if you use one, before you order.
Will it hold up in strong sun at the beach or lake?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The fibers are solution-dyed and UV-stabilized, so the color runs through each fiber rather than sitting on top. They are rated 6 for colorfastness to light, which helps the anchor and lettering keep their color on a bright, open porch.
A covered porch or screened entry will still keep any mat looking newer longer. If the mat sits in full sun all day, it is worth placing it where the roof line gives it some shade.
How do I get sand out of the mat?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
Shake it out often, then vacuum it with a motor-driven brush and beater bar. Regular vacuuming can remove up to 80% of surface dirt, and it pulls sand out of the fibers before it grinds in.
During a busy beach week, a quick shake every day or two keeps the lettering clean and stops sand from tracking into the house.
Will the mat dry out and stay put on a wet deck?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The fibers dry quickly compared to natural coco mats, so wet feet and passing showers don't leave it soggy. The non-skid primary backing and anti-skid secondary backing help it grip a deck or porch floor.
After a storm or a day of wet swimsuits, lift the mat and let the deck dry underneath. The 1-year limited (Mats Inc.) warranty covers mats cared for this way.

The Laurel Initial is an initial doormat with your family's first letter set inside a classic laurel wreath and your last name spelled out below in spaced capitals. It feels traditional and graceful, the way a monogram on fine stationery does. It is made to order on a synthetic coir mat that has the look of natural coir without the shedding, and the preview draws your initial and name as you type.
What Laurel Initial Says at Your Door
The laurel wreath has stood for honor and celebration since ancient Greece, when winners were crowned with laurel leaves. Wrapped around your family initial, it turns a simple letter into something that feels earned and lasting, a quiet mark of pride at the front door.
It suits farmhouse, colonial, Craftsman and cottage-style homes, and any entry with a soft, traditional feel. As an initial front door mat, it greets guests with the family letter first and the full name close behind.
How the Design Works
A thin border runs around the edge of the mat. In the center, two curved branches of laurel leaves form an open wreath, and your initial sits inside it in a heavy serif letter. Your family name runs below the wreath in spaced small capitals.
You fill in one box: your family name, up to 12 characters. The initial is taken automatically from the first letter, so you only type the name once. The wreath and initial stay the same size, while longer names shrink to fit the line below. If your name is near the limit, check it in the preview.
The four colorways are a black mat with a natural-colored wreath and lettering, a natural mat with black, a black mat with grey, and a grey mat with black. The border, wreath, initial and name always share one color.
Where It Fits (and Where It Doesn't)
Laurel Initial belongs at a front door, a porch or a covered entry where guests stop and look down. The mat is rated for indoor or outdoor use, so it works as an initial outdoor mat on the stoop or just inside the door in a front hall.
The leaves and letter read best from a few steps away, so it is meant for the doorstep, not as a sign to be read from the street. Laurel Initial is part of our personalized coir door mats collection, all made to order with your name.
Three Things to Check Before You Order
First, check the name and its first letter. The initial comes from the first character you type, so make sure the name starts with the letter you want inside the wreath. Then read the full name letter by letter in the preview. The mat is made to order exactly as typed.
Second, size the mat to the door. A 2' x 3' or 3' x 4' fits a single front door. A 3' x 5' or 4' x 6' gives the wreath more room at double doors, a wide porch or a grand entry, and keeps a longer name easy to read.
Third, choose the colorway. A black mat with a natural wreath has a warm, classic look that suits wood porches and light stone. A natural mat with a black wreath stands out against dark doors and brick. The grey options feel quieter and fit modern farmhouse and grey-sided homes.
Why Mats Inc.
A wreath design depends on balance between the leaves, the letter and the name. Our preview builds all three from the name you type, at the size and colorway you choose, and the same design follows you into the cart and checkout. We have been in the matting business since 1964, shipping is free, and Laurel Initial typically ships in about 10 days.

In ancient Greece and Rome, laurel wreaths crowned champions, poets and leaders. Over time the wreath became a symbol of honor, achievement and celebration.
On a door mat, it frames your family initial as something worth celebrating. That makes it a fitting choice for a first home, a milestone anniversary or a house that has been in the family for years.

If you type a first name, that name appears below the wreath instead. Check the preview to make sure the initial and the name read the way you want.
What home styles suit a laurel wreath doormat?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
It fits best with traditional and classic styles: farmhouse porches, colonial and Georgian entries, Craftsman homes and cottages with planters and lanterns by the door.
The natural colorway with a black wreath looks especially at home with painted doors and seasonal wreaths hung above the mat, where the two wreaths echo each other.
Is Laurel Initial a good anniversary or housewarming gift?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Yes. Because the laurel stands for celebration, it suits milestone anniversaries, a first home or a family's move into a new house. Shipping is free, and it typically ships in about 10 days.
It is personalized, so it can't be returned or exchanged. Confirm the exact spelling of the family name before you order.
Will the corners curl or the mat slide around?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The corners are reinforced, which helps them hold up to foot traffic and sweeping. The mat has a non-skid primary backing and an anti-skid secondary backing to help it grip the porch or floor beneath it.
For the best grip, set it on a clean, dry surface, and lift it now and then to sweep away grit that collects underneath.
How do I keep the wreath and initial looking sharp?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The fibers are solution-dyed and UV-stabilized, rated 6 for colorfastness to light, so sun is not the main concern. Dirt is. Fine leaf details look crisp longest when the fibers are kept clean.
Vacuum the mat regularly with a motor-driven brush and beater bar, which can remove up to 80% of surface dirt. Mats cared for this way are covered by the 1-year limited (Mats Inc.) warranty.

The Business Monogram is a business door mat with your business name in bold capitals, an optional tagline, and a space for your logo, all framed by a thick border. It gives a shop, studio or office door a finished, welcoming look. It is made to order on a synthetic coir mat that has the look of natural coir without the shedding, and you see your name and tagline in the preview before you buy.
What Business Monogram Says at Your Door
The door mat is often the first part of your business a customer steps on. A clean mat with your name on it tells people they found the right place and that the details matter to you. It sets the tone before anyone reaches the counter or the front desk.
It suits coffee shops, boutiques, salons, studios, small offices and service businesses with a street or hallway door. As a personalized business door mat, it carries your name and logo in one simple, ready-made design.
How the Design Works
A thick border frames the mat. On the left is a round space for your logo. To the right, your business name runs on one or two lines in bold capitals, with a short rule beneath it and an optional tagline below that.
You fill in up to three boxes. Business name line 1 holds up to 14 characters and is required. Line 2 holds up to 14 characters and is optional, for names that need a break, like MAPLE & OAK on one line and COFFEE CO. on the next. The tagline holds up to 20 characters and is optional, like FRESH DAILY or EST. 2015. Longer text shrinks to fit.
The four colorways are a black mat with natural-colored lettering, a natural mat with black, a black mat with grey, and a grey mat with black. Your logo, lettering and border all appear in the same single color.
Where It Fits (and Where It Doesn't)
This business welcome mat belongs at a storefront door, a studio or salon entry, a small office or a suite door in a shared building. The mat is rated for indoor or outdoor use and works best in medium- to high-traffic spots, so it can sit outside the door or just inside it.
Because the logo appears in one color, very detailed or full-color artwork will be simplified. If you need a mat built entirely around a full-color logo, see our custom logo mats. Business Monogram is part of our personalized coir door mats.
Three Things to Check Before You Order
First, check the spelling and the line breaks. Count the characters on each line, spaces included, and read the business name and tagline letter by letter in the preview. The mat is made to order exactly as typed, so a missing period or ampersand stays missing.
Second, size the mat to the door and the traffic. A 2' x 3' fits a single office or suite door. A 3' x 4' or 3' x 5' suits a storefront where customers come and go all day. A 4' x 6' fits double doors or a wide entry and gives the name the most presence.
Third, choose the colorway that matches your brand and the floor. Black with natural lettering looks warm and classic. Natural with black lettering stands out on dark tile or concrete. The grey options look modern and pair well with grey storefronts and office interiors.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I send my logo?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Place your order with your business name and tagline, then email your logo artwork to mats@mats-inc.com with your order number. Logos are not uploaded on the website.
Our team turns your artwork into a one-color design that matches the lettering on your mat. The preview shows a placeholder in the logo space so you can check the layout of your name and tagline before you order.
What kind of logo works best?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Simple, bold marks work best: an icon, a monogram, a badge or a short wordmark. The logo appears in a single color in a round space, so clean shapes read clearly underfoot.
Fine lines, tiny text, photos and color gradients don't translate well to a mat. If your full logo is detailed, the icon or symbol from it often makes a stronger mark at the door.
What should I put on the tagline?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Anything up to 20 characters. Short lines work best: your year founded, like EST. 2015, a slogan like FRESH DAILY, your trade, like HAIR STUDIO, or a simple WELCOME.
The tagline is optional. Many businesses leave it off for a cleaner look with just the logo and name.
Can I order matching mats for more than one location?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Yes. Order the same design, colorway and size for each door so every location greets customers the same way. Use line 2 or the tagline for each location's name if you want them to differ, such as DOWNTOWN or WESTSIDE.
For larger rollouts, or different sizes per door, contact us at 1-800-234-1492 and we can help plan the order. Shipping is free on every order.
Will it hold up to customer traffic all day?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
The mat is made for medium- to high-traffic entrances, with a 44 oz pile, reinforced corners and a non-skid primary and anti-skid secondary backing to help it stay in place.
Maintenance makes the biggest difference. In higher-traffic spots, vacuum it daily, or twice a day at your busiest door, with a motor-driven brush and beater bar. That can remove up to 80% of surface dirt and keeps your name looking sharp.
Can it go outside my storefront door?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
Yes. It is rated for indoor or outdoor use, and the fibers are solution-dyed and UV-stabilized, rated 6 for colorfastness to light, so your name holds its color on a sunny sidewalk. The fibers also dry quickly compared to natural coco mats.
Bring it inside or lift it after heavy rain so the surface underneath can dry. The 1-year limited (Mats Inc.) warranty covers mats maintained this way.

What a Personalized Coir Mat Does at Your Front Door
A door mat has three jobs. It greets people, it tells them they found the right house or business, and it catches dirt before it gets inside. A custom coir doormat does all three, and the name on it does the first two better than any plain mat can.
Natural coir looks great on day one, but it sheds fibers into the entry and breaks down when it stays wet. These mats are made from 100% solution-dyed, UV-stabilized polypropylene with a coir-style surface. They dry quickly compared to natural coco mats and work indoors or outdoors. If you want the classic look in a stock mat or by the foot, see our full coco matting range.
The Mistake: A Name Nobody Can Read From the Walk
The most common letdown with a personalized door mat is not the mat itself. It is the fit between the text, the design and the size. A long family name on a small mat shrinks to fit the space, and a script name loses its punch when it gets too small to read from the sidewalk.
Size matters for the same reason. A mat much narrower than the door looks like an afterthought, even when the design is right. Before you order, measure your door and think about how far away people are when they first see the mat. The live preview shows how your exact text sits on each size.
How the Designs Compare
Every design below uses the same mat. The only choices are the layout, the words and the colors, so pick the one that says what you want at your door.
For Your Home
Heritage is the classic family name design: a double border, "THE" above your name in large letters, and an optional established year below. The name holds up to 12 letters. It is the strongest fit for new homeowners, newlyweds and housewarming gifts where the year means something.
Monogram Crest places your initial inside a double ring, with the family name spelled out below in spaced capitals. It is the pick if you want a monogrammed door mat that still shows the full name. It suits formal entries, brick homes and anyone who likes a crest look.
Laurel Initial sets your initial inside a laurel wreath, with the name below. It is a softer, more traditional take on the initial door mat. It fits farmhouse, colonial and cottage-style entries.
Script Welcome pairs a large script "Welcome" with a second line of up to 22 characters, such as The Smith Family. It gives you a monogram welcome door mat feel without a single initial. It works well for apartments, townhomes and shared front doors.
Script Name shows only your family name in a formal script, framed by a wide border. Nothing else competes with the name. It suits modern entries and families with shorter names, since a script reads best when it has room.
House Number puts a very large number, up to five digits, at the center, with an optional street name. It is built to be read from the walk. It is the right pick for homes where guests and delivery drivers have trouble finding the address.
Coastal Anchor pairs an anchor icon with "THE" and a name of up to 10 letters, plus an optional second line such as Lake House. It is made for lake houses, beach houses, boat owners and second homes near the water.
For Your Business
Business Monogram carries your business name on one or two lines, an optional tagline, and space for your logo. You send the logo artwork after you order. It fits shops, cafes, studios and service businesses that want their brand to greet customers at the door.
Three Things to Check Before You Order
First, size against the door. The mats come in 2' x 3', 3' x 4', 3' x 5' and 4' x 6'. A 2' x 3' suits a single door with a short name or the House Number design. Double doors, wide porches and longer text, like Heritage with an established year, read better at 3' x 5' or 4' x 6'.
Second, how much text the design holds. Each design has a character limit, shown on the product page, and longer text shrinks to fit. If your family name is long, Monogram Crest and Laurel Initial put the initial up front, so the name matters less. If it is short, Script Name and Heritage let it fill the mat.
Third, the colorway against your door and porch. There are four: black with natural lettering, natural with black lettering, black with grey lettering, and grey with black lettering. A natural mat stands out against dark doors and brick. A black mat gives the strongest contrast on a light porch or painted concrete.
Why Mats Inc.
You see your design before you buy. The live preview updates as you type, and the same design appears in your cart and at checkout, so you know exactly what we are making. Every design uses the same synthetic coir mat, which means choosing a design is only about the look.
Mats Inc. has been in the matting business since 1964. Shipping is free on every order. Each mat is made to order and typically ships in about 10 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see my personalized door mat before I order it?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Yes. As you type your name, number or business name, the preview on the product page draws the mat in your chosen size and colorway. The same design follows you into the cart and checkout.
Because every mat is made to order, you also confirm your spelling with a checkbox before adding it to your cart. Check names, house numbers and years carefully. What you see in the preview is what we make.
What size personalized coir door mat should I get?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Start with your door. For a single front door, a 2' x 3' or 3' x 4' mat looks balanced and works well with short names. For double doors, wide stoops or designs with more text, go to 3' x 5' or 4' x 6'.
Also think about distance. If people first see the mat from the sidewalk or driveway, the larger sizes keep the name easy to read. Try your text on two sizes in the preview and compare.
Can I use a personalized coir mat outdoors?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
Yes. The fibers are solution-dyed, UV-stabilized polypropylene, rated 6 for colorfastness to light, so the colors hold up in sun. The mat dries quickly compared to natural coco and has a non-skid backing, which makes it a solid outdoor monogram doormat for a porch or stoop.
After heavy rain, lift the mat and let it dry before setting it back down. That keeps water from sitting underneath on the porch surface.
How do I clean a coir door mat, and how is it covered?
Answered by Dustin Thompson, Owner & CEO
Vacuum it regularly with a motor-driven brush and beater bar. That can remove up to 80% of surface dirt and is the easiest way to keep the mat looking new. At a busy front door, shake it out or vacuum it a few times a week.
Every mat carries a 1-year limited (Mats Inc.) warranty against wear and manufacturing defects when it is cared for this way. The mat is about 5/8 inch tall, so check the gap under any door that swings out over it.
What is the difference between a monogrammed door mat and an initial door mat?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
People use the terms loosely, but here is how our designs split. Monogram Crest is the monogrammed door mat: your initial inside a double ring, with the family name below. Laurel Initial is the initial door mat: your initial inside a laurel wreath for a softer, classic look.
Both take the initial from the first letter of the name you type, so you only enter the name once. If you want the name to be the star instead, look at Heritage or Script Name.
How long does a personalized door mat take, and can I return it?
Answered by Jinna Hopson, Vice President of Marketing
Each mat is made to order and typically ships in about 10 days. Shipping is free.
Because the mat carries your name, personalized mats can't be returned or exchanged. If there is a defect in the mat itself, it is covered under the 1-year limited (Mats Inc.) warranty. That is why the preview and the spelling check matter so much before you order.
